Best Lanbox model for Isadora? Can't Post

I was planning to buy a Lanbox LCX this morning to start some tests, which connects via USB, ethernet or MIDI, but noticed on their website that they specifically mention Isadora and Max for the LCE model which uses only ethernet?
www.lanbox.com
Seeking (urgent) advice from those already using Lanbox as to the best choice for Isadora users?

thanks

I have tested Isadora with the LanBox LC. But you're best bet is to email the LanBox folks, as they can probably give you the best advice. They're usually very quick to respond, and they know about Isadora.

Best,
Mark

Re: [Mark Coniglio] Best Lanbox model for Isadora? [In reply to] Can't Post

thanks very much Mark. I'll post the advice from Lanbox.
I have an artist residency starting next week. Canadian Arts Council gave me some money to experiment with this connectivity aspect in my work. Didn't notice too much info on the forum about it, so seems not too many playing with this yet. Can't wait!

FROM THE LANBOX SUPPLIER IN THE US
"Hi Jamie,

Quote
I was just double-checking on the Lanbox website and they specifically mention the LCE for use with Isadora & Max software. I am using Isadora, so wondered if you have any advice for me on whether I should be ordering the LCE model instead of the LCX?

Yes, they both are fine and both have 10baseT ethernet.
The LCX just has all of the extra features as well, and also twice the internal memory. I always prefer the LCX personally.
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Lanbox test results with Isadora? [In reply to] Can't Post

I have now posted a video on my You Tube location showing a demo of the lanbox in use with Isadora software. The demo shows interactive motion control of spotlights, the use of a video projector as a follow spot, and vocal control of lights. The video clip is titled 'VIDEMOTE' and was the result of ten days as a research resident at the Shadbolt Theatre in Burnaby. I will be using the Isadora patch in future collaborative performance projects now that I have had the chance to test it and have it working well. I was very happy with the results. Looking forward to Mark adding the ability for Isadora to have the Lanbox information talk back to the software. Currently it can send DMX commands to the Lanbox, but we cannot see other information at the Lanbox. There was a significant issue when jumping scenes in Isadora. The lights did not turn off despite having zero settings in the next scene, I think because since in DMX language 'zero' is a number that does not truly represent the same thing as 'turn off light'' and because the Lanbox needs to receive a number when entering the scene. I was able to use an enter scene trigger for the specific lights I was using to get around this, but with as many as 80 to 150 lights in a show, it would be best of the DMX actor automatically could understand a scene change and refresh the Lanbox somehow.

Anyway, its fantastic and very exciting. I am interested in hearing from any other Lanbox/Isadora explorers and happy to share more detailed information. Smile
