Control watcher actor and midi controller Can't Post

I have a question regarding the Control Watcher actor.
I want to control several parameters inside Isadora using knobs on my midicontroller.
The thing is; I cant find out how to filter the input i get from control watcher. I can filter the port channel and controller, but regardless of which knob i turn on my controller the value goes up and down on all control watchers.
Is it not possible to filter the midi input so if i turn a knob on my controller, sending midi on channel 1, cc number 75, the value will only show up in the control watcher which i have set to show values from channel 1, cc number 75?
Am i overlooking something obvious?

Im on osx10.4 and isadora 1.2

thanks Pelle

Hi

My experience has been that if you define a controller watcher by channel and cc number then that's the only info that shows in the watcher. I'd check to make sure the external controller's knobs are set to a specific channel and controller number. Also check your midi settings inside Isadora (menu bar item).

Hi John,
Yes I´m puzzled about this! , The normal behaviour should be that if I turn a knob that sends cc 75 midimessages on channel 1, the values should only change on the control watcher that is set to recieve on cc 75, but it also change the values of the control watcher set to recieve midi on cc81 or any other cc... This is not normal or usefull.
Either i have set it up wrong, but there is not much to set up.. In midi options i only have midi in enabled.
I have tried on both mac and pc, its the same
Do you have the possibility to check if you have the same behaviour?
I attached jpg of this
thanks Pelle

Hi Pelle

Another aspect, which I ran into with some of my students yesterday, was checking the (Mac) Audio/MIDI settings preference and making sure that reflects your physical midi hookup to the interface. Students had two sensors as midi controllers and both were simultaneously showing cc numbers, though on different chnls and cc#s. The midi interface settings in Audio/MIDI were showing interface in&out "A" while the actual wires and Isadora were set to input "B".

Actually, I don't know why any of it worked...

Your image shows a setup that has worked for me in the past. Strange problem.

Good luck, John

In the control watcher, you need to specify which port, midi channel, and control number you want to watch for.

For instance, if you set

Port = 1
Chan = 5
Controller = 45

Only control change messages received on port 1, channel 5, with controller number 45 will be "seen" by the control watcher. The default settings (Port=1:16; chan = 1:16, Controller = 0:127) "see" every possible controller on every possible port.

Does this make sense?

Best Wishes,
Mark

Hi Mark
Yes it makes perfectly sense. If you look at the picture i attached, i think I´ve set it up as it should.
Nevertheless it does not work as it should, which is strange. The controller that is supposed to control cc71 also chages the values on cc74 or any other.
I have to try again to see if its me who is seeing things..
regards pelle
