DMX channels to play movies Can't Post

Hello,

I work as a video creator for live shows.
I wanted to use isadora to play movies with certain DMX codes.
The idea is to use isadora as a video player with clips assigned to DMX channels send by the light organ. (i.e calling a light effect is also calling a movie).
This fonction exists in Arkaos DMX. But I'd rather buy an isadora licence than an arkaos one.
I wanted to use enttec interface (pro version).
Could you please help me with this ?

Thank you for your help,

Benoit

Re: [webmammuth] DMX channels to play movies [In reply to] Can't Post

I am not expert with DMX but i did looks at using DMX the other week, I think using a LanBox is you're best bet.

I have no idea if you have used Isadora or not so I will presume you do not.... isadora has a actor (object) called a LanBox and can communicate directly with it via Ethernet.

There will be other users who use DMX more extensively than myself but i'm hazarding a guess the LanBox will be mentioned mostly.

If you have not yet experimented with Isadora then download the demo and you will see the LanBox actor in the Control Group.

(Apologies if you are not new to isadora)

Hope this helps anyway. Smile

Hello Benoit

Lots of lighting consoles can also send midi signals, maybe that would be a solution.

Hello Michel,

The best device I've found by far to interface a light console to computer is called "Keystroke" made by Rosco. The way it works is that you address the keystroke to listen to a particular dmx address then set ranges of dmx levels that input a keystroke in the computer. So if you have a cue that puts channel 1 at 10% it will output a "A". level 11-20% will return a "B" etc. I believe that you can set the device to listen to 10 distinct ranges. You can send a string of commands, you just need to reset the address to 0 between commands. I can image working in both Isadora and the light console to create some fairly complex running sequences.

This does sound easy, thanks for the link.
But for more complex setups 10 commands are a bit less. And I think, another software that has to be open is always one point for a crash more. If I have time I will look into the midi out of the lighting console we have.
