urgent midi question on mtc midi time code compare actor Can't Post

Hello,
I am preparing the sequencing for a tour where everything will be slaved to mtc. There will be a hardware mtc generator which still hasn't arrived. I don't know the formating of the time code it will have. Are there different ones anyway?

But for now, to set everything up I was trying to generate mtc with Midi-OX and/or Acid Pro 6.
When using Acid, Midi-Ox receives that code perfectly as seconds and frames but Isadora doesn't seem to receive anything.
I have installed Midi Yoke, enabled it as input in isadora and output in Acid. Maybe I am missing s.th.

But what makes me wonder the most, not to say panic, because I have to get this working by saturday, is the fact, that the mtc actor seems to expect a different format of values as each group of numbers ranges from 0 to 255 when you move the slider whereas the generated code has a format which represents minutes:seconds:frames (here 25 for PAL).

Are there any other actors I should take into account? Is there any way to actually see the arriving MTC or make it visible or is it just coming in somehow directly to the MTC compare actor? Should the Status window be indicating incoming data flashing the lights like when I send midi notes?

Thanks for any quick help.
Best,
Henrik

Blush

Ok. I figured it out myself... Crazy

Sony Vegas is sending mtc via a edirol FA66 into a Macbook via a Motu soundcard.
The mtc is simply translated into 255 steps for each information minutes / seconds / frames.

edit:
I do feel stupid. After trying to setup a user actor that would translate time to a value usable for the mtc comparator I just typed in the numbers into the input directly and it works fine.

Mark, I don't know if this is a bug or it's done on purpose but the counters run from 0-255 and the incoming values only go up to 59.
So if you set the mtc to look for a trigger at for instance 00:00:00:24 with the compare value set to eq (for equal) it will trigger fine.
I did not understand this because I was working with gt (for greater than). So if it is set to 00:00:00:128 it would also trigger but only with gt which led me to a wrong conclusion.

In any case it would be nice to be able to send values from another actor or slider into the Mtc Compare actor.

I will look into the MTC values... sorry for the inconvenience.

Do you have it working for the moment?

Best,
Mark

yes
thanks

only thing you have to manually edit inside each mtc compare actor
but there are only 17 cues so it's fine for this concert
