an actor to capture jpeg Can't Post

hello,
I'm looking for a way to take snapshots of a movie.
My idea is something like the "capture to disk", but to capture in jpeg format.
with the same process ( the image is recorded in a specificated folder )
Thanx

Re: [Mark Coniglio] an actor to capture jpeg [In reply to] Can't Post

thank you mark
My entire idea was to be able to "snapshot" a webcam, or any kind of camera, and automaticly export the image to jpeg
There are lots of little softwares doing this, but my idea is to build a "standalone" patch. Anybody must be able to come in front of the webcam, and just press a button for the photo to be taken.

If anybody has an idea, thank you...

Will it be very hard to "modify" the capture to disk actor in this way ?

Thanks

Well, every element that I add is difficult in the sense that it needs to be designed, written, tested, debugged, etc. I'm not taking new features on lightly right now, as there are many existing issues that need to be dealt with.

Please submit the report via the bug report/feature request page on my site. (See the sticky post at the top of this forum). I'll see what I can do.

Best,
Mark

If just want to be able to display a still image (you don't actually need a jpeg file at the end of the day) you could use the capture to disc actor set to record for short period of time (half a sec or less) and then display the video file captured in a movie player with the speed set to 0.

On the mac there are quite a few standalone apps (Photo booth on new macs, freak show for on any recent mac) that already do this - probably on pc too.

Hi Nick
Thank you for this idea, it works quite well, with capturing clips with the duration of only one frame.
But I still have a little problem, it's that what I want to capture is not just the direct video input, but the video input + text that I insert with Isa..
I think the capture actor is only able to record the input directly "at the source".

Thank you

Mehdi

Mark, I don't understand everything of what you ask me to do with this thing of posting on the site or....., sorry that are the limits of my english knowledge. But if you explain me with easiest words, there is no problem, I do what you want.

Also, I still have a problem : sometimes when capturing : error -2048 : the movie could not be read because it is not a file that quicktime understands

How about a screen capture of what is being sent to the stage saved as a JPEG?

You could do thing with any number of off the shelf apps (irfanview) or a script (PERL)

You can have the app running in the background and still listen for a keypress or your external button, no need for Isadora to capture the input. Or you can use OSC to pass around messages and trigger the capture.
