3D quad question... Can't Post

Hi All

Enclosed is a screen shot which says it clearly... two clips, both opaque are cutting into each other. This happens with other clips too, sometimes not just a simple intersection, but complicated overlapping- what looks like lumakeying. Clips are photojpegs... standard compression stuff.

This is correct behavior. If the objects are rotated an intersect, you will see one in front of the other. If you wish to combine the images, you might try choosing a 'blend' setting of 'additive' and setting the 'depth test' input to 'off'.

Best,
Mark

Re: [Mark Coniglio] 3D quad question... [In reply to] Can't Post

OK you're the man, but I thought that if a clip was on a layer higher in number than another layer, then -all- of the higher clip was in front of the clip on a lower layer... is there an undefined plane somewhere in the 3D space where they intersect?

Also the patch I'm using (with four 3D quads- with all rotation off) has layers 0, 1, 2, 3. The order of overlapping is not as described. Layer 1 is in front all with layer 3 behind... odd.

Nice airport?!

Thanks, John

I think if you turn the 'depth test' off you'll get the behavior you're looking for. When depth test is on, the 'z' coordinate of the object will be used regardless of the layer.

Best,
Mark
