Hi Everybody
Maybe it could be of interest to make a brief inventory of the various devices people are intending to bring with them just to get a sense.
I am always on a budget, so I don't actually own a lot of things, but here is the short list of what I am planning to bring along:

- Shuttle XPC SP35P2 (Intel QC6600/Nvidia 7600GT, Mac OSX 10.5.2),
- Sony TRV900, DV-Camcorder,
- M-Audio MidAir25 wireless Midi Keyboard,
- Wiimote

Hi David
I would love it if you would bring your Arduino. I personally never had a chance to actually work with it, but I would be very interested in learning more about it. Whether or not there will be time is not entirely my call.

Re: [justruppert] Advanced Workshop Discussion [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll bring with me

* MacBook (OS Tiger 10.4.11)
* Wiimote
* MIDIman 2x2 (midisport)
* Arduino
* MIDItron (no the wireless one)
* Phidget InterfaceKit 8 analog input/8 digital input/8 output (USB)
* Some sensors (light, distance, vibration, IR-reflective, ultrasonic)

I'll will arrive at Tegel from Madrid at 22:30 on Sunday, so I don't think I'll arrive on time to meet people on Sunday. The rest of the time I'll be very happy to brainstorm and share thoughts, ideas, techniques or anything that could contribute to make Mark's workshop a success.
I'm leaving Berlin on Wednesday June 4.

Does anybody know of a violin midi controller not too expensive?

I would love to come but I have a performance of my own to complete for my degree.

Please do another advanced workshop soon!

Post any pics when you get back! Smile (Would be cool if someone did a small news report/article since it is the first 'advanced' w/shop?

Hope you all have a great time, i'm jealous!

Re: [helena palma] Advanced Workshop Discussion [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow! Browsing for MIDI violins shows how expensive non-keyboard MIDI item are. I just bought an accordion (partly because it defiantly doesn't plug into absolutely anything) but am now interested in maybe using the frequency listener to tune into specific notes.

The squeezebox is too big to bring, but I'm interested in seeing if we can get a pitch recognition patch going.

EDIT - Doh! There's a minimum width of 100Hz for the frequency gap, making over an octave of roughness (any way to reduce this width?)

There are also other software packages like digital ear that may work; http://www.digital-ear.com/digital-ear/buy.asp.

Hello,

Have you tried the "fiddle~" object for max? It's made for pitch to midi, perhaps there is an equivalent or Pure-Data?

Never tried Max yet - I may need some help next week. Thanks for the tip though, if there isn't a way to change the Isadora actor (or do it in QC?) I'll try MAX.

Re: [jhoepffner] Advanced Workshop Discussion [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry to be offlist for some days... currently heavy into testing the new Isadora version, partially so that those of you taking the workshop can use it. ;-)

To answer these questions:

1) How to pay the Workshop (Credit card, bank heck, cash)

I would prefer cash; the only other way would be a bank transfer, which we can organize if it is required. I will be able to create an invoice for all of you.

2) Where is the workshop

103 Studios
Falckensteinstr. 47

3) what is the shedule

10 am to 4pm each day,
with a 1 hour lunch break around 1pm or so.

4) what about the meals (it would be good to stay together)
This is up to you all -- but I see some discussions have emerged on this topic.

5) what is available (VP, cameras, sound device, midi faders…)

I myself only have a DV Camera and a Wii with me at the moment. But again, it looks like several people are bringing things, and hopefully we can give them a go and learn about them in this way.

6) Do you think it's good to prepare an introduction for each of us? If yes, what kind?

I always have the participants introduce themselves... but just something brief. We will get to know each other certainly as we work together.

7) How many people are declared to come?

There will actually be 10 now...

Hopefully that will answer the most pressing questions. I'll be sending a more formal email tomorrow or late tonight (Wednesday.)

I'm looking forward to it.

Best,
Mark
