Capture to disk issues Can't Post

    Hi everyone,
i'm posting here, because it seemed to me the best place to do it:
i would like to know if some of you are using capture to disk, from a live DV camera input via firewire.
in our show we record a bit of live on the internal drive of a laptop, to be able to use it as media later on, and we've had some problems doing it..
sometime the file isn't properly recorded so it won't play back, we've had a couple of crashes from izzy.. all of that a bit random.
as any one a protocol to use capture to disk, or a trick, or a stable way to use it..
i know the problem could come from our patch, but it's a scene that only does this so...
any advise is most welcome!!
thanks and good luck with you works

ps: we use a MBP 15" 2,33ghz intel core 2 duo, 3gb ram + ATI Radeon X1600 with 256m vram

Re: [Vidal] Capture to disk issues [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Vidal,

I have been using the capture to disk feature in several recent workshops, and it works as expected. Usually I trigger the recording to start, which also triggers a Trigger Delay (e.g., 10 sec) and that triggers the recording to end.

Are you using a DV camera? That is what I'm using, and it seems to work best for me. I haven't tried it much with a USB or built-in camera.

Best,
Mark

    Hi Mark,
we are using a dv camera. You are talking about 10 seconds recording, we record from 1 to 2 minutes could it be that the computer and/or the disk gets overloaded after a certain time??
thanks for your answer anyway, i'll look again into the patches and the scenes that are before and after to make sure they are ok, even though i'm pretty sure they are...
cheers

No there should not be any problem recording one or two minutes. The recording goes to the hard drive, so it should not matter as long as you have enough disk space.

Best,
Mark
