Is there a way to create a vignette effect? Can't Post

Hi, I'm sorry to ask this question instead of looking for it myself, but the idea of having the video projection in circular form (more like an elipsis) instead of the normal rectangular video just popped out yesterday and our opening is saturday! So I don't have much time, neither to check Isadora thoroughly nor to change all the videos in Final Cut.

So my question is: does Isadora have some control that allows me to create a vignette effect, crop the corners or anything like that?

Thanks in advance!

make a mask in photoshop and use the alpha mask actor.

You can build a much more flexible vignette by using the shapes actor.

Run the shapes actor through a Gaussian Blur (preferably from Pete's Plugins -- download here -- and then into an Add Alpha Channel's mask input.

You can adjust the size and shape of your vignette with the Shape's parameter's and the softness by adjusting the Gaussian Blur.

I've attached the patch -- BUT you must install Pete's Plugins first, otherwise Isadora won't have the proper GausssianBlur actor. Pete's Plugins' Gaussian Blur processes faster than the native Isadora Blur.

Oh yes, yours is the much more flexible and nicer way. Mine is just quick and dirty.

The patch is most cool, (once again...William to the rescue!)....
I seem to be having an issue with installing Pete's however. I downloaded the UB version and ran the install...all went well. I can't seem to get izzy to see the actors (?) however. I searched the thread on plugins and followed along...still no go. I'm using 1.2.9 on a Macpro.

Some people have reported having this problem with Petes plugins. There might be a thread somewhere in the forum that Mark explains how to fix that. I think it's just a matter of locating your actors folder and manually copying the files in and so on.

But, you may also just be confused, since most of Pete's Plugins are repeats of what are already in Isadora. So if you see 2 gaussian blur actors, then it worked.

I'm glad to help with this. I came up with this solution for a show last year, and I think it's really handy. I was frustrated with the PSD method after dealing with it on about a dozen projects.

And think of it more like Isadora to the rescue! Because this program simply kicks ass. Wink

Thanks a lot, works like a charm!

And I'd say both, Isadora and William have recued me! And just in time...
