Isadora and Photoshop Can't Post

Hi all

I'm quite new using Isadora, I've already searched in this forum but I didn't find solutions.

I'm using Isadora in a theatrical show, but in some parts I also need to use Photoshop, drawing live using layers and other PS featurings.
In a first study of this act, I used two computers (a Macbook Pro with Isadora and a Mac Pro G5 with Photoshop) and a simple mechanic video-splitter, choosing which source send to projector.

So this is my question: is it possible in Isadora to use an external source (the video output of the other computer) like whichever other video-source...?
(I need to use 1920x740 format, both Isadora and Photoshop)

I'm not sure I explained well.. sorry for my english!

thanks,
bonji

The only way you could use a computer as a source for Isadora is to convert the VGA output to Composite Video and then capture it via a Composite to FireWire or Composite to USB converter. But you're not going to get the resolution you're hoping for once you convert to analog video.

I don't have any other suggestions for you at the moment.

Best Wishes,
Mark

"v002 Screen Capture allows you to capture your desktop, or a portion of it to a texture and further process it. This can be used to bring in other applications output or windows as a source input to VDMX or other Quartz Composer compatible patch hosts."

i have not had the chance to check this out in Isadora,
give it a whirl and let us know how you get on!

Similar trick for windows, using Techsmith Camtasia. Camtasia will capture all or part of your screen and make it look like a video capture device. Isadora sees this fine.
If you have a multi montitor system and lots of CPU this works great, but it's messy to run it all on one computer. (still I do it sometimes)

The Canopus TwinPact will aslo capture a portion of your screen directo to DV, that you can use a a video input. It's $500 but the video is pixel perfect if you set the capture area to 720x480, no rescaling degredation.
On the other hand a $45 scan converter and a $45 usb capture device will do the trick if a soft image is OK.

Also if you get a Blackmagic capture card with HDMI input you can convert the DVI output of a computer to HDMI and capture it into isadora that way, it should look pretty much perfect that way as well. I have not been able to do this myself yet to prove it though.
