Isadora on Tour, Can I...? Can't Post

We are planning to use Isadora on a tour later on this year, before we buy i could do with finding out if it is possible to:
  1. If i have lots of scenes make global adjustments to the projector module (change the width etc in all scenes)
  2. Change the shape of the projection in all scenes (apply a global mask)
  3. Fade out the edges of whatever is projected so i dont have such a boxxy/sharp projection
  4. Trigger each scene using a lighting desk, either midi or a dmx interface. (we'll be using a Strand 520i) if midi will we need extra unit (using Mac Pro)
  5. Can i use a second video card; i dont need firewire video unit etc...
  6. Can i make a external trigger switch using rs232etc

If you could give some info so i can re-create the features in the demo version this would be great.

Many Thanks,
Sam - ShowTech Ltd

Yes... if you place the projector inside a User Actor, and then copy that one User Actor from scene to scene. If you do this, making an adjustment to a value in one User Actor will update all of the others to match.

Again using a User Actor should address this.

You can do this by creating a mask in photoshop, where the main image is black, and the alpha channel is white at the edges, fading to black in the center. If you project this image on layer 10, it will be in front of everything else, thus creating the "edge feather" you require.

If the board can generate MIDI or Serial Commands, yes; directly from DMX no.

If you install a multiple video cards in your computer, you can then output to multiple stages. Isadora can do as many as six at a time, though bandwidth issues (CPU, disk drive) will probably prevent you from being happy if you do that many. ;-)

You can use the Serial In Watcher actor to trigger events based on RS-232 input.

Hopefully that answers all your questions.

Best,
Mark

Look at the attached TIFF file. Just use a picture player and a projector, and put it on layer 10 with the blend mode set to 'transparent'. It will create a soft edge.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Best,
Mark
