Matte and Alpha Channels Can't Post

Apologies if I've asked this before.......

I'm using the Matte actor to add one video stream to another.
Is there a way of using alpha channels with my destination image?

I have a background(source) video playing into the background input of the Matte actor.
I run my destination clip though the Alpha Mask actor and into the foreground input of the Matte actor.

But the resultant image has a black border around the non-masked area. It is rectangular.
Is there a way round this. Can I add an oval section of the video to the background using the Matte actor?

Apologies if gibberish isn't your first language!

Gavin

Re: [gavspav] Matte and Alpha Channels [In reply to] Can't Post

Dear Gavin,

Unfortunately the Matte actor will not respect the alpha mask when combining the two images. It's using a rather old QuickTime call to do the processing, and the alpha portion of the image gets trashed.

Sorry...

Best,
Mark
