OSX Bluetooth Question Can't Post

Hello,

I am trying to use files sent via bluetooth from a Mobile Phone in my Isadora patch.
This is working fine but I am having trouble with the "Incoming File Transfer" window appearing in front of the stage.
I can close the window once the file has loaded (via applescript) but can't seem to suppress it.
Does anyone know if there is a way of either keeping it behind the stage or disabling it?
I guess I could use two screens as a workaround but hopefully there's a better way.

Thanks Alot for Any Suggestions

Gavin

PS I might have asked this ages ago in the old forum. If so then sorry!

Hmmm this might sound really really daft but the first time the window opens, can you keep it open but drag it into a small corner of you're screen so that you can literally only see a tiny corner? Maybe? I dunno.... first thing that came to my mind....

Let us know how it goes.... Crazy

I like your style (total bodge!) but unfortunately it doesn't work.
New window comes up right slap bang in the centre of the screen.
Thanks for posting anyway.
Any other ideas?

Haha sorry! i did think it was a possibility though... sometimes the simple solutions are the best! Are you using 10.4? or 10.3? Because im sure you could get someone to write an apple script in automator or something.

I am doing the same thing. Is your stage running on your main screen?

Yeah it is.
I could definitely do it with two screens.
Annoying though not to be able to hide that window.
Or at least move it.
How are you faring?

Ok so far.

Ar you using applescript to add the pictures to an isadora bin? I've got a warning popup when pictures are dropped into the folder I just cant seem to get the code right to add the pictures to the bin (or isadora at all for that matter)

There might be a way to supress the file transfer window, I'll have a play around

I did write a script to it a while ago and it worked but there was some kind of faff involved.
Recently I did it in Quartz Composer and then imported the .qtz Its much easier.
When I hit the Bluetooth File Transfer window problem I stopped working on it.
I've done the same kind of thing on a Windows machine using php and flash (not Isadora) so I just left it.
Bluetooth seems to support more devices on Mac's though.
I'll dig the mac stuff out when I get home next week.

Looks like I haven't got a copy of my Quartz Composition but here's how I did it:

First you need to specify which folder your bluetooth images go to in the bluetooth settings.
Then make your Quartz Composer patch - in fact there is a composition called Slide Show that comes with Composer - you could start with that.
there is an actor (or the Quartz equivalent) called "Folder Images" which scans a folder and creates a list of files.
All you have to do is change the file path so it matches up with your Bluetooth destination.
If you want the file list to update at runtime then you have to send a message to the Folder Images actor to tell it to refresh the filelist.
You do this by sending a message to the scan signal input every n seconds (however frequently you wish to rescan).

Then you should be able to import your composition into isadora.

It is also possible to import directly into the media window using applescript. I can't remember exactly how but the applescript side of it is that you have to create a Folder Action so that every time a new file appears in the specified folder then a command is invoked. I think it is possible to tell Isadora to import items into the media window using Applescript.
Somewhere (!) there is a bit of documentation about Applescript and Isadora - oh I've just looked and seen you've already been directed to it in another post. So you've probably already done it.

So I'll shut up.

Gav
