Quartz Composer Midi Clock Can't Post

I read the comments in the announcements about CPU usage of Quartz Composer Patches. (pulling images out of the plug ins is heavy on CPU)

I've been experimenting with using a Quartz patch containing only a Receive Midi Clock Actor.

This gives a way of having Midiclock in Isadora.

But even with nothing connected to the image output (which isadora adds automatically), the VPO in the status window goes up to around 30.0

Is this because of the (unused)Image output? Or just because of the Midi Clock?

Do you mean MIDI Time Code or MIDI Clock?

Best,
Mark

Midi Clock.

I've been synching Isadora to Ableton Live and I don't think Live throws out MTC, only Midi Clock.

EDIT** Just discovered Live works with MTC as a slave, but not as a host**

And I think Isadora only accepts MTC, not Midi Clock!

So I experimented by embedding a Quartz Composer Patch which received the Midi Clock in the Freeframe folder.

It did work but the CPU overhead was high.

Is this because of the image output?

Embedding Quartz thingies in Isadora seems a great way of easily extending Isadora.
My hunches tell me that it isn't quite there yet performance wise, especially with QC 3.0?
I could really do with some information about the Core Image features and maximizing their performance. ie not converting to Video
I guess that's a different post though!
It's exciting stuff.
