Quicktime 7.4 has some issues Can't Post

Just in case anyone is trying the 7.4 update this has just been posted on the jitter list - just in case anyone is having issues in after effects, or anywhere else.

there is a massive conflict between QT 7.4 (whose only purpose is DRM) and after effects.

QT 7.4 scans quicktime headers 10 minutes after files arrive for possible scamming, and AE (and premiere pro) do not currently write correct QT headers into their render files until the end of the render.

last night, at a client site, the animator and i were completely confused about why all of his renders were dying ten minutes into the process, and the answer is QT 7.4. fucking apple!
Cheers

Nick

You should have no problem _playing_ JPEG. But if you try to compress, then you need to choose an option to restore these compression options.

Go to System Preferences, click QuickTime, and choose the Advanced tab.

Then tick the box next to "Enable Legacy Encoders".

This should bring it back!

Best,
Mark
