frame dephase problem with live video input Can't Post

Hy,
when I try to import live video feed,
I have a dephase problem with the interlaced frame of my Sony HDV caméra(witch convert the signal into a DV before sending it to the firewire).

Is my firewire too long? (5meters)?
Is the Sony converter not efficiant? But I had the same problem with a Canon DV camera...

I have set the input video quality to maximum or normal,
the video defaut resolution to 720x576 and 756x576 without any changement...
I work on a Macbook Pro, X.5.

does somebody have a solution?
all the best,

When you say "dephase" problem do you mean "de-interlace" -- where you see artifacts because of the interlacing of the video once it is scaled up to a larger stage size. (i.e., the 720x576 becomes 1024x768.)

One thing to try is to _not_ use the 720x576 setting but simply choose Input > Video Input Size > Full Size. This will ensure that the video resolution will be precisely what is being fed from the camera.

But it is always a problem to scale PAL interlaced video to 1024x768. Most projectors I've ever seen don't have a resolution setting that provides 576 vertical lines, which is what you'd want if you wanted each line to get it's own "pixel" on the projector.

One solution: deinterlace your video in FCP and re-export as "progressive". That might help.

Best,
Mark

Re: [Mark Coniglio] frame dephase problem with live video input [In reply to] Can't Post

thank you mark for the advice,
yes I ment "deinterlace"!
I'll do that for the movies, but for the live input, I'll have to find other solutions!

For the moment I have found a freeframe(peter's plugin) actor called "DeInterlace" that help.

all the best,

thomas
