hi everyone
i am hoping to set up a kind of mask, where the screen is divided into a grid of rectangles (doesn't matter how many, really). then certain rectangles in the grid allow the image from a movie to come through, so that you can't really tell what it is. other rectangles would be assigned to other movies, so you eventually get a big grid of pulsing changing light.
basically i am trying to replicate something i saw in a sound mix for a documentary i just did. when the tech rewinded the movie, it basically turned into a huge grid of rectangles, and the images in each rectangle were samples of that area of the picture, but not all from the same frame of the movie. it was really beautiful. perhaps some of you have seen this before.
um, incidentally i did the music---i'm a music/sound guy which is why this post reads like i don't know what i am talking about....i don't.
i think its some kind of multivid/panner thing, that might make it work maybe? but there is probably a more elegant way to do it.
