how do i universally turn the init function on/off? Can't Post

i need to find a way to turn on and off the initializing function within the movie player clip selector in the properties box within every scene so that i can drop clips into the appropriate media bins without reordering every number in the media folder. there are 500 clips ocer 100 scenes so its quite a headache when needing to switch between editing media and rehersing. the auto adjust function i leave unchecked and i feel that there should be a functionality with the init box in preferences or somewhere, something like an on off button for it. the disable control id function in prefferrences doesnt do anything for this problem.
..I hope someone has some advice about this particularity

also, I have tried using user actors for this purpose to no avail, the property values ,or at least the init box is unaffected by updates.
surely this is not just an isaCora issue?
kind regards

I'm a little confused by this question. When you say " movie player clip selector" do you mean the Bin Pickter Control?

When you say "initializing" function what exactly do you mean?

I guess I'm just not following you... perhaps you can rephrase and I'll look again.

Best,
Mark

ok mark, i mean the initialization box in the selector of the movie player actor.
If i dont un-tick this init(ializing) box, when importing new clips into the media folder, the clips re-organize themselves and i have to reselect the clips then in the bin picker and change the number within the selector relating to the 'init' box.
with hundreds of clips this is a headache

OK -- I think I understand

1) You click the 'init' checkbox to initialize to a particular video clip
2) You import clips using the "Auto Adjust Media Numbers" option (i.e., it is turned on)
3) While the value of the movie in the 'movie' input is updated correctly, value next to the 'init' checkbox in the inspector is not updated.

Is this what you mean? If so, I can understand what you're saying. I do not update the 'scale min' and 'scale max' inputs in the selector because it is almost impossible to know what the user wants in this case. However, I can see that updating the 'init' value would make sense. Isadora does not do this currently.

Do I understand everything correctly now?

Best Wishes,
Mark

yes, thats exactly right, Ive had to employ a wrangler to check and un check those little boxes.
for my purposes it would be fab to have the functionality of updating the init value, i wasnt sure if i was missing something so thanks but now i know its just not possible yet?
the file numbers reorder themselves in the media viewer making the initialized values of clips different, and this seems to prove challenging in a media environment of hundreds of clips that need editing and rehersing and performing conjunctly.
so your previous statement was correct.
one more thing, is there a way to have multiple control id tags for the same actor inspector function box?

did you file a bug report about the init checkbox at http://www.troikatronix.com/isadorabugs.html ? If not, please do so, as that allows me to ensure I deal with it.

There is no way to have multiple control ID's for the same actor. But it would be easy enough to create a User Actor with multiple inputs, all of which feed to a single output. You could then assign one ID to each input.

Best,
Mark
