Izzy Crash with Multiple Monitors Can't Post

Hey all,

I just bought a computer to run isadora that can support four monitors outs. It is a PC:

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo (Dual-Core) E6550 2.33GHz, 1,333MHz FSB
Memory: 2GB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) System Memory
Number of Monitors Supported: 4 Monitors Supported: 2xDVI + 2xVGA
Operating System Drive: 150GB 10,000rpm Raptor 16MB cache SATA II Hard Drive
Video Cards: Nvidia 7300 GS x2
Isadora 096b

Unfortunately if I enable more than one monitor izzy crashes on start up. It doesn't even think about it, it just crashes. If I have only one monitor enabled Izzy works fine.

I am currently adapting the two DVI outs to VGA. The monitors don't seem to mind, but does isadora?

I really need to solve this fast since I have to start showing work on Friday. Any ideas at all. My next plan of action is to use two DVI cables instead of adapting the output to VGA. Should I also change my drivers or anything? I know a little about computers but I'm completely out of my depth on this issue. I had no idea that isadora just wouldn;t work at all with this setup. I've run isadora before on a computer using two video cards.

Thanks for the help

Okay. An update:

After I spent the day switching out video cards was I finally able to make Isadora not crash immediately on start up. This was accomplished by setting the "Hardware Acceleration" to less than 50%. I'm very happy that I have Isadora working, but the output with one video playing on the monitors attached to the second video card is chunky at best. I'm wondering is there is an issue in Isadora with my motherboard which has two PCI-e slots on it. I ended up switching over to ATI cards. The first is a diamond ATI 1650x Pro. This one works the best because it seems to split the two outputs into separate drivers. The second is a 3630 ATI card with massive amount of memory and video processing power. It seems a real shame that I can only let the hardware process 50%.

Any tech wizards have any ideas. I know the director is going to be disappointed.

Thanks.

Success.

The solution was to go to Duel ATI 1650X Pro cards. Each output is treated like it's very own video card by windows and so I was able to enable all of the hardware acceleration and let Isadora lose on stage.

Woot.

I'm sorry you had trouble, but glad you found the answer. Part of the problem may be incompatibilities with QuickTime. I myself cannot use the standard DirectDraw enabled mode on my Mac Laptop running BootCamp and Windows XP -- this is due to a bug in QuickTime.

I am removing Isadora's reliance on QuickTime more and more in each iteration. Eventually, it will only be used to play movies on the Mac and not used at all on Windows. But it is happening over time, as removing it completely in one go is too massive to take on all at once.

Best,
Mark
