Miglia TVMax+ input problem

I just migrated to Mac and have been looking for a new MacBook friendly composite video in solution. I did use a Pinnacle Studio USB device on the PC which worked great with the Native Capture Windows versions of Isadora to give almost zero latency input, although never appeared under the old version needing the dreaded vdig for Windows (Abstract Plane or other). So now I've opted for a Miglia TVMax+ as a Mac video in through usb option.
- My problem is that after installing the software and a reboot the Miglia is now "visible" to Isadora (after starting up its app and closing the TV window with the red button on the remote) but then won't pass clear video further. This seems to switch off its own viewing screen but keep the external USB2 box working as an input for other applications, and it shows up fine in iMovieHD's camera in screen.
- Under the Isadora video input settings menu item the TV Max source can be selected (and a choice made between TV tuner, composite or S-video input), and three new compression codecs appear related to the TV Max (TVMax 2vuy 8-bit 4:2:2, TVMax y420 8-bit 4:2:0, TVMax yuvs 8-bit 4:2:2 ; the middle codec crashes Isadora).
- In the compression options window the video input shows up fine (and audio always runs fine from the box, including syncing with TV stations), but when I close down the preferences the video input preview or the final projector from the video in watcher turns into a series of monochrome, green or pink lines.
- Changing input size or quality shows a clear frame of the source for a second, but then flips back to a range of coloured line patterns (different for each size or quality setting).
- I think I've tried all the compression codecs, and some of the size and quality settings seem close to the right picture, but just skewed into lines.
- YUV to RGB doesn't work. Oh, and I allowed the latest Quicktime update to install this morning. The input settings do usually say PAL, not SECAM (or NTSC), and that doesn't affect the picture positively.
It just seems weird that other programs, and even the Izzy video input settings window, all seem to get a clear picture but then it loses it when run into a live Izzy patch (apart from the tantalizing single frame.) later on... OK, I've just tried to record using iMovieHD and as soon as you hit "record from camera" (using the TVMax) the green lines appear again. I'll refer this to Miglia... but if anyone has any tips in the meantime please let me know.
And the next day... I get a very quick response (on a Sunday) from a Miglia UK support guy (Rob) who says there are vdig (arrgh I hate that word) issues that should be solved in later versions of the Miglia software in July, so hopefully it may work then as a live capture device, unless Mark and the team complete a Quicktime-independent Isadora for Mac any sooner. So finally a warning for anyone considering this as an input option in the near future; it's a pretty good video recorder and analogue tuner, and because the hardware does the encoding it produces MP-4 or Mpeg2 files instantly in real time, without waiting for conversion, and meanwhile there's a bit of CPU space for other stuff. But, it's no good yet as an Isadora input device. I'll update this message if it gets solved.
