Sorry yeah forgot that's member's only. Here's a copy.... Dear jammerz its been a while since ive been on the forums, so hello to all. Hope the gigs 'n' clubs have been good to all, and everyone is showing them how it is done with vjamm now, lets get to the post. I recently bought a new laptop, a dell, i thought i had worked hard and earned enough cash from freelance projects, so i bought the following dell inspiron 1520, 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 2gb ram, nvidia gforce 8600m GT 256mb, running xp (deleted that nasty MR Vista). All is fine with the new system. Everrything except the video card in vjamm, the overlay doesnt work, im running out from the tv port, svideo, connecting directly to a tv, and i can see the clone there, now, i run vjam, and i see the 2 versions of vjamm, i drag a clip to a spare slot, and NOTHING, no overlay faliure warning, no freeze, the clip plays and stays in jamm mode (2 versions of vjamm in view). I checked for video overlay settings in the nvidia control panel, and for the life of me, i cannot find it, 3dsettings - no. all other settings no. I did find something on forums about nvidia drivers being screwwy, and that in a lot of the versions of card drivers, they had not activated them. example :- http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/...x.php?showtopic=9211 i did the fix, and i am testing soon. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I definately know that this card can support the overlay function, but i am baffled at how to get it working, instead i have to usethe tab secondary monitor controls, which, personallly i dont like. Just a personal preference. if anyone has any suggestions for drivers, fixes etc, i would love to know. I want my baby (dell) to be able to use video overlay after searching around on a plethora of forums related to video and cards i found what may be the problem. supposedly, nvidia with the 8 series have discontinued the overlay function at cpu level ! - WTF. Now, at first, i was worried, then, i managed to find something that may work. there is a setting inside the nview properties for video zoom. It is now called fullscreen video, and it is not located in the 3d settings as specified by nvidia help. I am in office at moment, so i will test and inform all of the results, my main worry is that vjs alike may be going out to buy the new grafik card from the 8 series, then find that their frikin card dont support it, and are forced to use secondary display mode. With secondary display mode, i have had a few issues already, freezes etc, which i dont like the idea of when vjin to a couple of hundred people, which has already happened. Sorry about the rambling ciao ciao yes i f i remember correctly the latest nvidia cards are calling overlay "fullscreen video zoom" or something like that - i don't have an 8 series to look at here but i'm about to start testing my new dell precision which has an nvidia quatro in it. i'll report back with any useful discoveries later..
