windows vista and pc configuration Can't Post

Hello, I am a pc user, thinking about getting a new computer to work mainly with Isadora and other real time video software. How does Isadora perform in windows vista?, is it recommended? Also, I have been offered Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS which includes directx 10, Is it worth it? or what video card do you think is better for this? Thanks in advance T.h.

I have to say I've not yet tried Isadora under Vista. Has anyone else tried this? I'd be curious to hear their experiences.

Best,
Mark

Re: [Mark Coniglio] windows vista and pc configuration [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello,
I'm beginner in Isadora&Vista, but I tried the PC trial version of Isadora on XP pro, and it works great with sensors, midi & webcam.
Now I just bought a new PC (tablet IBM x61t) with Vista business, and it crashes my computer (blue screen system, reboot & co).
I did exactly the same software installation for both of the system (winvdig included).

What I think right now is to buy the isadora PC version, to instal it on my "old" XP laptop and I try to buy an IBM tablet XP (60 euros they said) to downgrade my new laptop, and at least, use Isadora for my work.

If someone got more information about Isa&Vista, I'd be happy to hear news about it !

One thing: if you're using the VIDG then you're using an older version of Isadora. I have a version that captures video natively, and you may want to give that a go with vista.

You can download it at http://www.troikatronix.com/izzy-updates.html

Hope that helps,
Mark

Thanks for the info... I have a new programmer working for me, and having him solve these problems will be a top priority once we finish a few features that are present in the Mac version, but have been missing from the PC version for some time.

Best,
Mark

Any progress on Vista? 0.9.6b0 didn't work that good. Just a blue screen of death right after the start-up screen. Tried different compability settings (XP SP2 etc.) but the end result was the same. Quite hazard that the program crashes not only itself but the whole OS as well.

Too bad that it is quite hard to purchase a new laptop with XP these days. At least here in Finland.

I have a fix for Vista... but the next release includes some very big changes in the mechanism used to render frames. This is to improve the stability of frame rates on both platforms. I don't want to release this until I am 100% sure that it does not have serious problems. I am completely focused on this task at the moment, and hope to have something in the coming days -- at least an "experimental" version that people can try and see how it is performing for them.

Best Wishes,
Mark

I'm working in a frenzy to the Vista version working well... sorry it's taken longer than expected.

I'm hoping now for next week.

Best,
Mark
