Live Feed video and Security Camera DVR Systems Can't Post

Hey. Does anyone have experience with Live feed and Isadora on Mac? I am looking to make a piece using isadora and wonder about the best products to allow multiple camera inputs to be integrated into the show. Any thoughts on getting the image into mac and in a useful format to Isadora?

Any thoughts on Hardware or software would be greatly appreciated.

System we are planning is MacBook Pro 2.5ghz with 512 vram graphics and 7200rpm drive with a TripleHead2Go to split into 3 output sources. Cameras would be a 4 camera DVR security cam system as well as 1 or 2 DV Cameras fed via Composite.

Thanks

would it not be easier to have a hardware mixer, like a edirol v4 perhaps, that then inputs into Isadora?

Then you could get a an extra PCIMA express firewire card

in the past I have used an MX50 but am hoping to set this up to allow for an operator to do less switching live. I was hoping that something like XLR8 which supports multiple cameras and something like a mac multi camera security software would allow all to run through usb2. I like the editol just thinking that if the system can be set up right I won't need it, might be naive though.

Yup I have a XLR8 proview and it works a treat.

I didnt suggest this though because you say you want 4 security cameras and possible 1 or more DV cameras.

So you could have 1 DV input through firewire.
1 Proview xlr8 input (but I don't know what would happen if you used two?)

You still need a way of getting 2 camera into the mac...
I personally don't know how else to do it apart from a hardware mixer or a customized computer with extra camera inputs.

Maybe someone else has some more ideas? Cool

I'll contact XLR8 and see what they mean by supports multiple inputs. I was hoping it meant USB2 hub and multiple XLR8 would work and play well together. But I am skeptical. I will let you know what they say.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I would read multiple inputs (in this context) as it being able to accept S-Video and composite. Not as multiple inputs regarding 2 or more physical inputs into the computer.

Maybe I am wrong. But yes, report back as it will be interesting to hear what they say! Smile

Good luck!

Did you read these two threads?

In the next 4 weeks I will try out if the hardware (ppc / intel) or the software (10.4 / 10.5) causes the difference of 3-5 seconds delay or 7 frames delay.

Will post it here as soon I have checked it.
