Problem with two quicktime video Can't Post

Hi,
i'm a Isadora newbie, beggining to use just a small part of this great software.

I have a problem to play two quicktime movies at the same time. Take a look to the attachement to see the very simple structure.
Technical informations:

System: Mac Os x 10.3.9 - Isadora 1.2.9 - QuickTime 7.5
Hardware: PowerMac G5 2x2 Ghz 3GB Ram
Graphics: ATI 9800 AGP (main screen) 1280x1024 px
ATI 9200 PCI (stage 1 - Mitsubishi videoprojector 1) 1280x720 px
ATI 9200 PCI (stage 2 - Mitsubishi videoprojector 2) 1280x720 px

Video files: Two quicktime movies - 720x576 px - Photo jpeg compression (50mbits/s)

In the "projector" module i have put the "keep aspect" ON (so the 720x576 px video is not expanded all over the screen but play in the center)

When i play the two QT movies together it is slow (9-10 fps)

But when i play the same two QT movies together with QuickTime player i have 25 fps.

Anybody can help ?

I think in this situation you are better off to stick with DV PAL movies at 720 x 576.

That being said, there is a big difference between the way Isadora plays movies and QuickTime Player. Isadora must render the movies down to a bitmap (so that you can pass it on to Isadora's effects) and this means that some of the more efficient paths to render on the screen are bypassed. So in general, Isadora will perform more slowly than QuickTime Player.

There are two solutions:

1) Use the Core version of Isadora (which is compatible only with 10.4 and above; I see you don't have that)

2) Use the Movie Player Direct actor. This actor does _not_ allow you to do effects or cross fades between scenes, but will give similar performance to QuickTime Player.

Hopefully that will help you solve your problem.

Best Wishes,
Mark

Hello Mark,

thank you very much for this lesson for beginner (that's me :-),

i will try the "movie player direct" tomorrow,

and i think in future upgrade to the core version.

Like we say in France this software is a real "couteau suisse" (swiss knife) for live audio-video presentations !

Thank's a lot !
