dual-core pc Can't Post

Hello,
I am trying the same patch on a single-core pc 3.2 Ghz/2 Gb RAM @ 3.2 Ghz and a dual-core pc 1.8 Ghz/2 Gb RAM @ 1.8 Ghz.

Both pcs are "clean", with no programs in background or garbage in the registry, but the single-core pc is faster than the dual-core one.
Please, is Isadora code not optimized for dual-core pcs?
Is Quicktime version relevant?
Thanks
Dario

Isadora itself is not specifically optimized for multi-processor machines. (Though the operating system nevertheless allocates resources to both CPUs, even when the app is not optimized.) But the real CPU eater is playing movies, and that is done by QuickTime, and that is definitely optimized for multiple CPUs.

Best Wishes,
Mark

Thank You.
But my pcs run different versions of QT.
The single-core pc (fast) runs v7.0.4, the dual-core one (slow) runs v7.4.5.
Is it possible that old version of QT has best performance with Isadora?

Dario

Isadora does run on the Quicktime engine so I imagine it will affect its performance... but to what degree I am unsure.

Maybe experiment with different codec's? See what the results are.

To be frank, I have found 7.4.5 to be problematic in various ways. I don't know _for sure_ that it is better or worse, because I've just upgraded too. I'll have to dig in an check it more thoroughly.

Best,
Mark

Thank You, now the show is running with 7.0.4 and it's Ok.
Good luck with your tests.
