UK Isadora Meet. Can't Post

I was thinking of trying to organize an Isadora UK meet.

I was gutted that I was unable to make the Berlin advanced workshop so I am wondering what everyone thought about a UK meet up?

I have only managed to meet JoeST and Mark Coniglio in the last four years of 'izzying' so I think its about time I try to arrange something.

I have no idea about location or when, but I am sure we can sort something out. It's a busy time of year so I am guessing February sometime so that NYE and Xmas are out the way.

What's the general feeling? Is it worth me going ahead with this?

Maybe we can do a little workshop, some kind of showcase or perhaps just meet up in a bar/cafe and talk I don't mind at all it would just be nice to meet a few more people and get to know faces as well as names.

As I say it will be a few months away if it goes ahead but I need your input...

Best,
Graham T (aka skulpture) Cool

I'd be happy to host this at LIPA, with maybe a few days or times for different reasons.
  1. Day/afternoon of sharing of practice, 5-15mins presentations of examples of work including long lunch/dinner to chat and network. Then dance show in the evening involving student choreography incorporating multimedia.
  2. Practical workshops to share connected technology, especially Arduino projects.
  3. Period of academic paper presentations about the use of technology with live art.
If people are interested it would be good to know whether a single day, two days or three are best, and if the weekdays or weekend are better?
We have dance shows of final year student choreography in the last two weeks of march and they will be incorporating some Isadora programming, so this might be a good night out.

Obviously for those willing to travel this would be open to anyone that can make it to Liverpool from the UK and beyond.

Thanks Joe.

That sounds great, I may be able to get some space at my Faculty in Doncaster but I have not checked this out yet - although I'm sure they would be fine with it.

I like the idea of the sharing practice/examples of work and especially the long lunch/dinner idea! hehe.

I guess it depends how formal/informal people want to be about it? Don't want to scare people off with academic papers and presentations although I personally think it would be really good!

As a guess, I think two days would be long enough for most people. For me a Thursday-Friday is best but I am quite flexible.

I am currently in discussion with Mark Coniglio and a few other people, but the date currently stands as the 19th/20th March 2009.

Lots more information to follow, including a full schedule of events, guest speakers, workshops ad much more...

Start getting excited! Wink

I posted a reply on the VJ forums thread but figured I'd get more info from here.

I'd be traveling from south Wales, probably in my car. anyone nearby (or on route) up for a lift share get in touch.

I'd also be very interested in contributing. Let me get my MA stuff out of the way and i'll post some details.

Hey Mixed Ape.

Thanks for your post, I did see you post on VJF but only had the chance to sit down and reply today.

If you could post or PM me some details that would be superb, I can not commit anything just yet however an 'open workshop' / 'free show and tell' time has been scheduled into the days events so i'm sure you could use that.

I also will have more details in the next few days.

Hey Gav,

Great work looks very interesting. As you will see above, and what I have posted to Mixed Ape, I am sure you will be able to contribute to the event during the open workshop/showcase time we have scheduled.

A full and detailed schedule will be posted soon once me and Mark C have sorted everything out Cool

Keep checking back here for updates. And make sure you have the 20th booked off work! haha!
