Isadora New Versions

Can't Post

Hello All, I've posted a new version of Isadora for Mac OS and Windows. There are a few bug fixes and one important new feature for Core Video. But mostly this is to give you all a workaround for the audio playback bug introduced by Apple in QuickTime 7.2 You can read more about this fix at http://troikatronix.com/qtbug.html New versions to be downloaded are at http://troikatronix.com/izzy-updates.html As I've said previously, Apple has been responsive to this problem and they are working with me to solve it. I feel confident you can look forward to a permanent solution in a future release of QuickTime. Regarding Core Video & Quartz Composer. Many plugins would not show an image because they didn't have a video outlet -- and many could not render their images without using the Billboard. You can now access the resulting image if a Quartz Composer plugin only renders to the Billboard. If a QC Plugin has no video outlets, then Isadora automatically adds a video output that is the image seen on the Billboard. Now, there are still some QC plugins that don't work with this method. But it is a vast improvement and makes it easier to get what you want from QC Plugins. Final note on this: pulling images out of QC plugins, whether from the Billboard or from a video outlet is fairly CPU intensive -- you really lose some of the benefits of Core Video because of this speed hit. This isn't an Isadora problem, but a deeper issue inside Core Video. I am guessing you'll see some big improvements from Apple in upcoming releases of Mac OS. But for now, just keep the heaviness of using QC plugins in mind. Please post your feedback on the new version and how it works for those using QuickTime 7.2.
